Preparation/First Post

Well folks, here it is. My first post on my first blog ever. Just thought it'd be a nice way to keep everyone updated as best as I can. If you don't know already, I'll be leaving January 6th for Madrid, Spain! It is going to be an experience I will never forget I'm sure. But anyways, this is just a little introduction for my first post about the preparation for Madrid. Here goes nothing!

It's officially 2 weeks until I leave! I've got to be honest though...I still feel unprepared. There isn't enough transition from the stress of finals to the stress of leaving! I got home a week before Christmas, then a short 12 days after Christmas I am off to a completely new country I've never been to before. Sure, I've been abroad and yes it will be an absolute blast. But I still haven't packed, todavía tienen que practicar mi español, and apparently I need to start planning my trips. How am I supposed to do that in 14 days?!? I'm sure I can't be the only one stressed about this right? Well maybe..

At our pre-departure meeting for study abroad the leaders of the presentation told us we should right down our goals and aspirations for while we are abroad. So here is my very short (and probably incomplete) list of things I want to do while abroad:

  • Be comfortable speaking spanish in a conversation
  • See as many soccer games as possible (including an Arsenal match of course)
  • Do well in my classes
  • Explore Madrid
  • Play soccer with random people as much as possible
  • Experience enthrallment (see following link number 2 for great explanation) as much as I can
    • http://io9.com/5893964/10-psychological-states-youve-never-heard-of-++-and-when-you-experienced-them
This list may grow in the next couple weeks. I'll keep you updated!

...and so begins Niko's Excellent Adventure Abroad!
